Our Purpose

To empower women to achieve economic mobility by providing a global network of support, workplace attire, and development tools for success.

For nearly three decades, Dress for Success Worldwide has been proving a simple truth. When you invest in a woman … you invest in everything around her. Families. Communities. Countries. The World.

We are movement that started in 1996 in a church basement by an ordinary woman, Nancy Lublin, who did an extraordinary thing. She transformed a $5,000 gift into doing good for other women. Today, we are a strong global community network of 130 affiliates in 15 countries who have helped more than 1.3 million women achieve greater economic mobility.

Over the past decades, like all women, we have evolved, adapted, and gotten better with time as we stepped into becoming the leading resource for advancing women in the workforce globally.

We empower women in the workforce to achieve economic independence. Through our global affiliates, we provide holistic services throughout the work journey. Our proprietary program model includes coaching, clothing, and a continuing community network of support. Our next chapter includes many new programs, such as career reskilling, support for entrepreneurs and women owned businesses, sustainability, and health and wellness. At Dress for Success, we meet women where they are: opening opportunities to help them find their right path or realize the confidence to make one.

Need

For those wondering why the work we do matters, here are the facts. Women make up nearly half of the world’s population, yet only 47% of women  are in the workforce compared to 72% of men. And, when women do work, they earn on average 20% less than men globally.                                               

At the current pace, it could take more than 130 years  to close the gender gap. At Dress for Success won’t wait for gender pay equity to catch up. We believe Success Starts Now.

Our valued partners, individual/corporate donors and impassioned affiliate leaders make our programs possible – expanding our global impact. Our volunteers generously share their time and expertise, and many women we serve often return to help uplift the next generation.

Our talented leadership team, Worldwide staff  and dedicated Board of Directors  are united in helping women in the workforce and increasing women’s economic mobility. 

We exist to break down barriers to economic advancement.
